Overseas
Deployment Training (ODT)

Army National Guard soldiers train overseas, participate in exercises, provide
mission support to overseas combatant commands and United Nations peacekeeping
forces, and provide units in support of each overseas commander in chief’s
strategy for nation assistance.
Overseas deployment training (ODT) is an opportunity for soldiers and units to
train in an exciting and rewarding environment. The training contributes
significantly to the experience and skill of Guard soldiers and to retention of
motivated soldiers. Soldiers, as they work supporting U.S. Southern Command,
U.S. Pacific Command, U.S. European Command and U.S. Central Command can expect
a high degree of training realism and satisfaction. During fiscal year 2001
soldiers of the Army National Guard supported training and operations in over 80
countries.
Training opportunities range from providing opposition forces at the Combat
Maneuver Training Center-Europe to providing mechanics and engineer support to
base operations in South Korea. The 341st Military Intelligence Battalion
routinely deploys soldiers worldwide to perform intelligence missions.
